Kirill V. Dobrego, Dr. Sci. (Physical-and-Mathematical), Dean of the Energy Faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University is a specialist in the fields of heat and mass transfer in complex heterogeneous systems, of combustion and engineering applications of combustion, of modeling of heat and mass transfer in power installations.
Kirill V. Dobrego graduated from the Belarusian State University majoring in physics; he prepared his PhD and Dr. Sci. theses at the Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer named after A. V. Lykov (Minsk, Belarus); he trained and worked at the University of Illinois (Chicago), the CNRS (Orleans, France), the KIER (Republic of Korea) and other research centers.
K. V. Dobrego is an author and co-author of over 180 scientific publications; he supervised a large number of research projects, including the ones fulfilled within the framework of COPERNICUS and INTAS programs and of the STP "Nanotechnology US" of the Union State.
He is the author of several pioneering papers on the stability of the waves of filtration combustion, the effect of optical properties of the porous medium on the properties of waves, properties of transient non-stationary regimes of filtration combustion. With the aid of computational and experimental methods he investigated conversion of hydrocarbons to synthesis gas, issues of a technological scaling of the reactors and limit modes of operation of reactors of regenerative and recuperative types. He also developed methods for simulating unsteady flames, flames in channels and in encumbered space.
Dr. Dobrego worked on the problem of involving Belarusian shale in economic circulation and on technological aspects of oil shale processing. He developed molecular dynamics numerical methods for the study of mechanical, thermodynamic and electrical properties of carbon nanostructured materials.
In several theoretical works he has studied the directions of optimization of aerodynamic operation of cooling towers, influence of large-scale eddies on the overall aerodynamics and on thermal performance of cooling towers.
K. V. Dobrego is an award-winner of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Ministry of Education of Belarus, Roscosmos etc.
At present the research interests of Dr. Dobrego are focused in the modeling and optimization of large heat and mass transfer installations, in studying heat and mass exchange in a porous medium under conditions of application of high pressure air injection methods of enhanced oil recovery, in development and optimization of energy storage systems for working with heterogeneous (including nonconventional) sources of energy.
