ELECTRICAL POWER ENGINEERING
As a result of computing experiment the basic indices of the technical perfection of microprocessor current protection of distribution networks lines were obtained. Test data are presented in the form of signal dependences in various protection circuits. Estimation of an operating capability and efficiency of the investigated protection under two- and three-phase short circuits at the beginning and end of the protected line and also at the end of an adjacent transmission line with a transient resistance were carried out in the paper. The paper proves an efficiency and high sensitivity of the proposed method which ensures a selective and proper operation of the protection in all modes of the controlled transmission line.
An approach for calculation of electromagnetic parameters of vertical grounding electrode based on solving transient equations with the help of an operational method is proposed in the paper. A program for calculation of surge parameters is developed. Applicability of the method is confirmed by numerical calculations for harmonic currents of various frequency.
The paper shows advantages and disadvantages of the known designs of asynchronous motors with electro-mechanical braking device. A new developed and studied asynchronous motor design with built-in combined braking device based on an electro-mechanical brake and an electro-magnetic clutch is given in the paper. The paper describes its advantages and prospects of its usage for electric drives operating in intermittent cycle.
The paper considers computer technologies for expediency consideration of worn-out transformer recovery in power systems. Methods for list preparation of transformers to be selected for capital repair, estimation of repair quality, control over execution of contractual obligations are presented in the paper.
The paper considers special features of the «Electric House» project where the building is provided with electric power, cold water and sewerage system. The «Electric House» is characterized by ecological cleanness, high reliability in power supply and low capital costs. While running the «Electric House» an annual expenditure of equivalent fuel is increased due to low efficiency of electric power generation at power plants. The profit obtained due to «Electric House» construction is depleted within some period of time. Term of profit depletion is rather high and it is not less than 15 years.
The paper proposes a methodology for an analysis of phase-like load distribution and calculation of an optimum number of single electrical receivers per every phase of 3-phase 4-way power networks of 0.4/0.23 kV where a statistical method is used for calculation of electric loads.
An index is suggested for evaluation of operational electric load uniformity by phases. The paper contains an analysis of concrete examples of electric load diagrams according to the considered methodology.

The paper describes the developed methodology for sulphur determination with the help of an inversion voltammetry. The method includes an electrode regeneration at 500 mV (in reference to silver chloride electrode) within 20 sec, sulphur concentration at 100 mV, registration of cathode current-potential curve with 200 mV/sec and within potential interval from 100 up to 400 mV.
Problems pertaining to power- and resource-saving while heating eutectoid steel in furnaces of mechanical engineering, automotive and tractor plants (blanking and mechanical assembly production) are considered in the paper. The paper shows that a heating device according to its heating technical parameters must be developed with due account of a temperature diagram having properties which are peculiar to the heated charge.
The paper analyzes reasons of energy losses at various sections of gas-cleaning and ventilation systems: gas-cleaning equipment, flues, draft system. Non-used or less common technical and organizational power saving methods of this sphere are considered in the paper. The paper reveals possible directions for usage of economic mechanisms with the purpose to increase efficiency of power resource usage.
An analysis on usage of vegetal wastes for energy production is presented in the paper.
The paper reveals that logging debris and linen chaffs are considered as a prospective raw material for energy production in theRepublicofBelarus.
The paper considers state of thermal power plants and power system of theRepublicof Iraq. The analysis of capital equipment, fuel consumption, technological schemes and operating modes of power plants has been carried out and main problems have been determined in the paper. For restoration of a power supply system of theRepublicofIraqand provision of internal electric power demand it is necessary to elaborate a complex of measures directed on construction of new generating sources and restoration of power lines.
