ELECTRICAL POWER ENGINEERING
The paper presents design ratios for calculating power losses, efficiency factor and its maximal value for a long-distance electricity transmission. Universality of these ratios with due account of electromagnetic wave propagation nature and intermediate connections and multifunctional application are considered in the paper. The ratios permit to construct algorithms while designing, pricing at wholesale electricity market and can be used in the training process.
The paper contains a mathematical simulation of transient parameters of vertical grounding electrodes for the first and subsequent short strokes of a lightning current. Results of the research show that transient resistances of grounding electrodes change appreciably in time. The transient resistances are always higher in the moment of voltage maximum then in the moment of current maximum. The dependences of transient resistances on grounding electrode length at different ground conductivity and lightning current parameters (first and subsequent short strokes) are obtained in the paper. The paper proposes an approximate criterion for estimation of grounding electrode equivalent length at transient condition that considers short stroke parameters of the lightning current and ground conductivity.
The paper investigates starting-up modes of powerful asynchronous motors used at gas-compressor units which are applied for oil and gas production and transportation. Impact of motor starting-up on GRID mode for various variants of a scheme structure is considered in the paper. The paper presents investigation results taking 7 MW capacity motors as an example. The motors concerned are applied at compressor units used for oil production inAzerbaijan.
The paper considers a load diagram leveling as of one of the means for higher operational efficiency of a power system and power saving. In order to reach the target it is supposed to use peak devices of the distributed generation (peak mini-power complexes) on the basis of cutting edge power equipment – micro-turbines of 30 kW–1MW capacity.
The paper presents the developed fully functional simulation model of an automated peat briquetting press drive. The given model makes it possible to reduce financial and time costs while developing, designing and operating a double-stamp peat briquetting press drive.
The paper considers problems pertaining to design of electrical power transmission line spans and switchgears with flexible conductors with due account of wind, ice and electro-dynamic loads. Impact evaluation assesses an influence of inter-phase insulating spacers on maximum rapprochement and tensile of flexible conductors at their electro-dynamic interaction.

The investigations pertain to ventilation of tunnel facilities, creation of normal health conditions for passengers and service personnel of the underground.
The research task is to stabilize air temperature and humidity atmosphere regimes during underground operation, creation of convenient conditions for passengers and service personnel, impact reduction of hazards introduced by ambient air, reduction of power consumption for service of underground premises.
The task is attained by the fact that the known device of reversal tunnel ventilation of undergrounds with partial air recirculation additionally has a heat pump and its evaporating zone serves for cooling of disposal spent air and it is connected with a separator for liquid and gaseous fractions, a block of their separate cleaning and removal of neutralized liquid fraction in sewerage, a unit for returning gaseous portion into underground facilities, connecting pipelines and fittings. In addition to this it has recuperative heat-transfer units for heating of incoming ambient air with the help of spent one and control and analytical complex that ensures an optimum operation of the device in automatic regime.
The paper presents a review of industrial technologies for obtaining gas-synthesis which is applicable for bio-gas enrichment process. Comparative characteristics are given in the paper. The paper thoroughly considers a technology of dry methane conversion as the most expedient variant recommended for the application in this case. The bio-gas enrichment carried out during its production expands possibilities and efficiency of its application.
