ELECTRICAL POWER ENGINEERING
Methodology for selection of main parameters of power network with minimum cost of power transmission and distribution is considered in the paper. While using this methodology saving in power expenditure and losses is calculated.
Investigations of electromagnetic parameters of various aluminium plane contacts under short circuit conditions have been carried out. It has been revealed that while calculating electromagnetic parameters of the above-mentioned contacts under transient regime we may take into account only parameters of the forced electromagnetic field. It has been shown that the areas of current flowing from one contact conductor into another do not depend on the character and magnitude of currents relevant to transient regime. These areas are practically unchangeable during the whole transient process.
An equivalent circuit of single-phase induction motor with decomposed poles has been proposed in the paper. It gives the possibility to calculate magnetic field of the machine under known values of loop currents. High level and detailed presentation of magnetic core makes it possible to determine electromagnetic parameters and investigate an influence of motor geometry on its behavior under steady state and dynamic modes.
Characteristics of power transformers have been considered in the paper. It has been shown that maximum value of transformer efficiency does nor correspond to minimum of its power losses. It is recommended to apply transformers in the areas which are beyond loading factor, corresponding to maximum efficiency.
The paper considers the wind-energy installation composed of induction generator which is integrated into large power system. Computer programmes based on mathematical models of wind motor, induction generator, step-up transformers, cable and open-air electric power lines have been elaborated with the purpose to investigate quasi-stationary operational conditions of the wind- energy installation. In order to demonstrate the influence of various parameters of wind motor and induction generator on quasi-stationary operational conditions some computational experiments have been carried out.
The paper considers analysis of the reasons and character of the failure of the Azerbaijan power supply system which occurred in summer, 2002. The level of sufficiency and efficiency of regulative and control equipment, as well as their satisfactory characteristics are analyzed in the paper. The reasons of the failure formed a basis for the works which had been started with the purpose to modernize the system, to re-equip it with up-to-date regulative and emergency automation technology.

While using the method of instantaneous regular mode an approximate solution of the task concerning melting of bodies with a simple shape - a plate, a cylinder and a sphere - has been obtained. At the same time cases of melting of «thermally thin» and «thermally massive» bodies under condition of instantaneous removal of melt and retaining the melt on the surface of the body have been investigated.
The results of experimental investigations relevant to the influence of Reynolds number on non-self-similarity of flow in the annular channel with cyclone generator of turbulent. Areas of mean and pulsating velocities have been studied with the help of laser Doppler anemometer at the value of Reynolds number Re = 770... 10,9 • 103 (Re = Fcp/J3v, Vcp - mean air velocity in the annular channel, v - coefficient of kinematic viscosity).
Equations and recommendations for calculation of basic aerodynamic characteristics of turbulent flow in the annular channels of heat exchange units.
The paper shows the ways how to modernize vanes and blades of gas turbines with honeycomb seals in a guide vane and an impeller. Recommendations on the optimization of radial slots and improvement of factors relevant to cellular structure of a honeycomb seal have been elaborated.
New approach for the simulation of stresses in 3-d parts of complicated configuration which are subjected to thermal treatment has been proposed in the paper. The paper gives computer calculations of distribution of normal stresses in time and space for «Hob» steel part.
